Dr. Kaizhong Gao has been leading advanced R&D for data storage technology demonstration and implementation, with more than 175 issued patents worldwide, including several technologies that were invented and became HDD industry standard over the past 15 years. He is currently the Principal Scientist and Section Manager for the Nanomaterials, Devices and Systems Group in the Applied Materials Division at Argonne National Laboratory, and a Sr. Fellow at the Northwestern University, after cofounded International Business and Technology Service (or IBT Service), where he generated a standard “Data Temperature” definition for data storage technologies and later expand this concept to the Digital Universe.
