How to Delete Partition on Windows 11 [Tutorial]

On Windows 11, a partition (or volume) is a logical division of the space available on a physical storage drive with a specific file system and settings that the system presents to the user as a separate drive.

Deleting a partition in Windows helps free up space for your other programs on a specific drive or prepare your computer to extend another partition. Also, OEM computers often come with unnecessary partitions that take up space. However, keep in mind that a partition on a hard drive can only be deleted if it's not currently in use. For example, if Windows is installed on the partition you want to delete, you can't as you are logged in to Windows. To delete a primary partition, you'll need to erase your hard drive and start over.

Since a drive can hold many partitions, and sometimes, you may need to organize them, Windows 11 includes multiple tools to ease the process to remove those you no longer need to make more space available to increase the size of another partition. Or you can also use the available tools to clean the storage to prepare it with a different partition scheme and file system.
