How to disassemble and clean the Antec Sonata III computer case
It's that time of the year for me to open up my computer case, the Antec Sonata III, to clean out all the dust.
I was extremely disappointed at the lack of information online on how to open up this case, especially considering that the Antec Sonata III is one of the most popular computer cases of 2007.
Begin by removing the side of the case.
There's a dust filter in the front bottom of the case that can be removed by squeezing the clips on either side. I had this case for years before realizing this thing even existed.
Next remove any drives from the front of the case. I have a DVD drive and an SD card reader.
To remove the faceplate, you'll need to push on 6 little black clips, 3 on each side. Push them TOWARDS the side of the case that they are on to unclip them. The 3 on the near side are easy to get to. The 3 on the far side can be reached by going through the top-most drive bay, then near the top of the hard drive bay, and finally at the bottom of the hard drive bay.
Be careful when pulling out the face plate, because there will be wires attached to it.
With the face plate removed you can now more easily clean out the dust. I used an air matress pump.
To re-assemble, put all the parts back into the case in the reverse order.
And that's it!
