Two work in an organization whose value system is unacceptable or incompatible with one's own condemns a person both to frustration and nonperformance.

In other words, you cannot work in a place that does not share your values. This isn't a question of ethics, but of your personal motivation and desired outcomes of your work. - Peter F. Drucker

One of my friends is a formal NFL Football player. He told me the story about how he quit his first job after the NFL after only 6 months. He said his main frustration was that the people in the organization only wanted to get by...they didn't want to "win."

When your profession puts you among the best in the world at what you do, it's hard to then go work in a place where the people don't have the same drive. My friend shared that story with me as advice when I was struggling to find my place where I worked.

Fortunately, years later, I got even better advice from a friend and career manager who told me I had no place in the company and that I should focus 100% on my business and get out as soon as possible.

Make sure that when you are choosing your life's work that you choose work that suits your values. Never trade your time simply to get a paycheck.
