To enable 4K resolution on your Xbox Series X/S, you need to make sure that both the console settings and your display (TV or monitor) support 4K. Follow these steps to ensure you can get 4K gaming on your Xbox Series X or Series S:

1. Ensure Your TV or Monitor Supports 4K
Check Your TV’s Specs: Make sure your TV or monitor supports 4K resolution (3840 x 2160) and has an HDMI 2.0 or higher port. For optimal 4K gaming at 120Hz, you will need a TV that supports HDMI 2.1.

2. Use the Right HDMI Cable
The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S both come with an HDMI 2.1 cable, which is capable of delivering 4K at 60Hz or 120Hz. If you're using a third-party cable, ensure it's HDMI 2.1 rated for the best performance.

3. Set 4K Resolution on the Xbox Console
Turn on the Xbox Console and make sure it's connected to the 4K-capable HDMI port on your TV or monitor.

Go to Settings

Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
Scroll to Profile & system - Settings - General - TV & display options.
Set Display Resolution

Under Display, make sure the Resolution is set to 4K UHD.
If you're using a TV that supports HDR, ensure Allow HDR is enabled. You should see a message saying 4K UHD is available.
Advanced Settings for 4K Support

If needed, check Video Modes to enable Allow 120Hz, Allow HDR10, or Dolby Vision, depending on your TV’s capabilities.

For the Xbox Series X, enable Allow 4K and ensure Allow 120Hz is checked if your TV supports 120Hz refresh rate.

On Series S, 4K is supported for certain games, but it doesn't upscale all content to 4K like the Series X.
