How to Use 2 Controllers at the Same Time on PS5 Console (2nd Controller Assist)
Using two controllers on a PS5 at the same time is easy, whether you're playing multiplayer games or enabling Second Controller Assist for accessibility. Here's how to do both:
1. Set Up Two Controllers for Multiplayer
Connect the First Controller
Power on the PS5 and connect the first controller as usual.
Connect the Second Controller
Power on the second controller by pressing the PS button.
If it's not already paired, pair it via Bluetooth:
Press and hold the PS button and Create button until the light bar blinks rapidly.
Go to Settings - Accessories - Bluetooth Accessories on the PS5 to pair the second controller.
Assign Controllers to Profiles
After connecting, the PS5 will prompt you to select a user profile for the second controller.
Choose an existing profile or create a new one.
Start a Multiplayer Game
Launch a game that supports local multiplayer. The two controllers will now function independently for each player.
2. Enable Second Controller Assist (Single-Player Assist Mode)
This feature allows two controllers to act as one, useful for accessibility or cooperative play.
Connect Both Controllers
Ensure both controllers are connected to the PS5 and assigned to the same profile.
Enable Second Controller Assist
Go to Settings - Accessibility - Controllers - Use Second Controller for Assistance.
Toggle this setting to On.
Test the Setup
Both controllers will now control the same character or interface simultaneously.
