In this video, we show you how to prevent or resolve potential audio output issues with the Nintendo Switch and the Marseille mCable or mClassic.

There are some pieces of tech when I see for the first time I automatically know think it's cool. One such piece of technology, to really, is the Marseille mCable and mClassic. Designed to be external video processors to provide additional scaling and smoothing for video content, these video add-ons really do make a difference to your picture. While designed help with older generation video game systems, like an NES, Super Nintendo, even the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, there can still be some benefits to using these with current generation systems like the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or the system we're going to talk about here, the Nintendo Switch.

I have had my mCable for over a year, and every old school system I have used it with the results have been nothing short of stunning. However, when connecting to my Nintendo Switch, I've never gotten any audio output. I tried multiple times and multiple different connection setups to try to fix this problem. I thought it may have been tied into the fact that I had a capture card between my Switch and my television. Bypassing the capture card did not solve the issue. I thought it was my television. Connected to another TV and I still did not have audio. I talked to Jesse from Marseille at the MoGameCon in 2019 about my issue, and he was just as perplexed as I was. He indicated it should work, but it wasn't

I next bought an mClassic, figuring maybe I just had a production error slip through on my cable. I had the exact same problem, beautiful video but no audio for my Switch. Every other source worked perfectly. I reached out to Marseille via their Facebook page, and we finally figured out the solution

I had set the audio output on my Switch to surround sound mode. Apparently, the mCable and mClassic are incompatible with this audio output, which is why the audio was disappearing. I went into the TV menu, not the system menu, and set the audio to stereo and voila, I had audio. I even had audio going through my capture cards! it's like the heavens opened up and the angels started singing, and it was a beautiful thing.

I hope my experience here has helped you if you have run into audio output issues when using either the mCable or the mClassic with your Nintendo Switch. It took me over a year in a number of conversations to get it figured out, but now that I have, I am thrilled.
