Please note, there are two different cables available to fit the Super Nintendo. One only works with the original Super Nintendo, that is the cable you see here. There is a second cable that will work with the Super Nintendo, the N64, and the GameCube. That one is listed as the three in one cable on Stone Age Gamers' website.

Getting a quality signal out of the Super Nintendo is not very difficult, but taking that signal and going to an HDMI output has been more than a bit of a challenge. Unlike the NES and N64, there currently does not exist an HDMI mod for the system. There are many adapter boxes out there to take you from composite video to HDMI, but these look like garbage. Other manufacturers make inexpensive HDMI cables, but they generally tap into the composite and don't look much better than the composite to HDMI adapter boxes.

LevelHike has created a number of HD cables to adapt your retro console to an HDMI output. The one you see here taps into the component RGB output, which is why it does not work with the N64, Super NES Jr, or GameCube.

Testing was fairly straightforward on the Super NES, it truly was plug and Play. I did not even have to connect power as it was able to be powered from the system itself. while I thought the reds were a bit on the hot side, the overall picture quality was really quite good. I also did not notice any appreciable lag or latency.

Why it RoX:
- Inexpensive
- Dongle design vs self contained cable
- Plug-N-Play
- Good responsiveness

What Could be Improved?
- Not compatible with SNES Jr or N64 without mod (different model addresses this)
- Molded connector instead of metal
- Reds seem a bit hot

Should You Buy One?
if you are looking for a budget way to connect your Super Nintendo to an HDMI connector, this is very good for the money. The responsiveness seems spot-on, and the colors seem fairly accurate as well. I did not notice any issues with the audio either. While not to the same performance level as SCARTor component cables going through an OSSC, RetroTink, or Framemeister, the level hike cable is considerably less expensive and delivers positive results.
