In some cases, the camera can't start with the error codes 0xA00F4244(0x200F4244) or 0xA00F4246 or shows an image with a grey background and a white camera with a cross through it. Also, there are users who get the error code 0xA00F4243(0xC00D3704) because "it looks like another app is using a camera already."
In this video I will show you how to fix Windows 10 camera not working in various situations, including Lenovo camera, Acer, Dell, Asus and HP webcam that is not working. Hope you can find the solutions that work for your built-in or an external camera.
Solution 1:
Allow apps to access your camera.
First of all, make sure the camera app in your windows 10 is permitted to open from programs. For this, press Windows key and then search for Privacy Settings and scroll down a bit and find camera, click on it, click on change. Make sure it is on. Also turn on, allow apps to access your camera and turn on Camera app so that we can access the camera using this program.
If you want other apps to allow using your camera, you can turn on, so that they can access to your camera. For example, I want Skype to use this camera, so I turn on for skype, zoom and any program needs access to the camera.
Solution 2:
Reset the camera app. For this, search for camera app, right click on it and click on App Settings. Here, scroll down a bit and click on Reset button and click on reset, It’s done.
Solution 3:
Fix camera driver using Device Manager.
In the case that the camera stops working because of a configuration problem or the driver is damaged, reinstalling the peripheral using Device Manager may resolve the issue. Expand the Imaging devices, Cameras, or Sound, video, and game controllers branch. Right-click the webcam and select the Uninstall driver option.
