I found a new way of how to allow Windows NT 5.0 builds to hibernate on Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 by updating the video adapter from "S3 Trio32/64" to "AnaPa Corp VBE Miniport", without having to enable Safe Mode or VGA Mode.
For VMware Workstation users: To allow Windows NT 5.0 builds (such as 1796) to hibernate on VMware Workstation 5.5.9 (or any version), you must uninstall BusLogic SCSI adapters from Device Manager, and then delete buslogic.sys from \WINNT\SYSTEM32\drivers (but to see system files, enable show all the files from the Folder Options Control Panel applet).
