I'm getting really bad frame rates in Minecraft 1.7. This is what I do to fix it. It wont help everyone, but it helps me. My pc (for those saying it's bad) i7 2600k @ 3.4ghz, 16gb RAM, r9 270X graphics card, 120gb SSD
