A guide and tour on how to get a 3 star island rating in Animal Crossing New Horizons! There are several requirements that the game takes into account when calculating your island rating, so here are some tips on what criteria to keep your eye on.
1) NUMBER OF VILLAGERS: get at least 8 (build campsite, then buy housing kits from Tom Nook for 10k bells to set up more villager houses, then visit mystery islands or campsite to meet more animals
2) BRIDGES & INCLINES: build a total of 2, more will help
3) FENCES: get at least 50 pieces of fencing set up, I had 100+ on my island
4) FURNITURE OUTSIDE: get 30 / 40 / 50 pieces outside, I had 63 pieces (you can apparently just dump them all in 1 spot if you like, the 3 star rating isn't that picky I guess)
5) FLOWERS & TREES: just plant a lot, get hybrids if you can etc
6) TRASH & WEEDS: pick everything up from the ground that's not supposed to be there, including fruits, minerals, dropped furniture (leafs) etc
7) TOWN UPGRADES: getting more shops and upgrading town buildings will help as well.
What is the reward for getting a 3 star island rating?
KK Slider will visit your town the next day, and then you'll unlock the Island Designer on your phone, which makes it possible to terraform the environment! Making paths, shaping waterways and cliffs as you like, it's truly a great reward worth getting!
