How to Get Both Bomb Upgrades (Second Quest) - The Legend of Zelda Second Quest 100% Walkthrough
12This video shows how to get both of the Bomb Upgrades that are available during the Second Quest. They can be gotten in either order & they increase your bomb carrying capacity by 4 each (for a maximum total of 16). Both upgrades will cost you 100 Rupees each & are both found in dungeons. This video shows how to reach each upgrade under the assumption that Level 4 has been completed, but Level 8 has not. As such you might have already completed these dungeons either in part or whole so you may not have to do everything that I do or you might have to do a couple things I don't. It's possible that you may have already gotten a Small Key that I get in the video & used it on a different door. In which case you'll either need to find a different Small Key or buy one from the various shops throughout Hyrule. To see where these Small Key shops are then watch the video linked below.
You will need the Power Bracelet to get the 1st upgrade & Food as well as the Stepladder to get the 2nd upgrade (if you've already done Level 8 then you will not need the Food). You can see how to get all of these things in their respective videos down below.
Bomb Upgrade #1 (0:00): Firstly, head to Level 4. From the starting screen go right 1 screen, up 5 screens, left 1 screen, up 1 screen, & right 4 screens. Push the rightmost rock to open the entrance to Level 4.
I already have the 1 Small Key I need at the start. If you have already done Level 4 then you might not need one at all. If you haven't done Level 4 yet, then simply go into the room to the left of the entrance & kill all of the enemies for a Small Key. From the entrance room go up 1 screen where you'll find a Digdogger if you have not already killed it. To kill it, play the Whistle/Recorder & kill 1 of the small Digdoggers. Leave the room & reenter to find that Digdogger is dead. From here go left 1 screen, up 1 screen, right 2 screens, then up 1 more screen by walking through the middle of the top wall. Here you'll find the Old Man selling the bomb upgrade.
Bomb Upgrade #2 (1:40): Before going for this one you should have near full bombs. From Level 4 go left 2 screens & drop a bomb on the top wall 5 tiles from the left.
Once inside Level 8 go up 7 screens, & left 5 screens. Push the center left block & go down the stairs. From here go down 1, left 1, down 1, & right 2 screens. Kill the Blue Goriya, push the left block, then go down the other stairs. From here go down 2 screens, & left 2 screens to find the Old Man selling the bomb upgrade.
