Glyph of Insight - Currently in patch 0.9.2, we wouldn’t really use this unless the launch make this glyph or experimental affixes very good. Also the rune of research is much better if you want an experimental affix
Rune of Research - use this to seal an experimental affix on an item and free up that affix slot. Works much like a glyph of despair except its only for experimental affixes
To understand how crafting works in last epoch you first need to understand forging potential, and item rarities.
You can get experimental affixes from Exiled Mages, which are like mini bosses that you find. You need to break them out of their rune prison and defeat them in order to get loot and runes that associate with experimental affixes. These affixes are very niche affixes, they generally tend to be associated with using traversal skills, ward or potion use and depending on your build they can be game changing. For instance, currently ward based and low life builds tend to be very popular lately, especially for climbing to high corruption and this is because ward is too strong as a stat. There is no cap on ward at the moment so some builds are literally building 100s of 1000s of ward on their build. Anyway so when you defeat exiled mages, they will either drop loot that has experimental affixes on it or they will drop a rune of research. If you want more information on crafting and using rune of research, you'll find a link to that video in the description below but basically, the rune of research works very much like a glyph of despair but it is specifically for an experimental affix. Just to show you an example, we have an pair of boots with the experimental affix on it. When we use the rune of research, it will seal the affix and open up the slot so we can put something else on it. This is a VERY powerful effect so you can either remove desired effect or you can put on a desired effect. One possible thing that I want to confirm, though I'll test it for you now on 10 items is using a rune of removal to remove an affix, then using rune of research to seal an affix. This will give you a higher chance of removing an affix you don't want on it, which might be helpful in a niche scenario. So we know what rune of research is for. Now we want to know what glyph of insight is and how to get it. Well the glyph of insight is a glyph you can only obtain by sealing experimental affixes. This will give you a chance to obtain a glyph of insight. This will change a prefix into an experimental affix. Initially I thought this was random but I've since discovered that this is not random, you can actually target what experimental affix you want.
