To get Snow Go's Red Gem the proper way you'll have to use the secret exit in Air Crash (Level 07) to enter Snow Go's secret entrance. Alternatively, you can get the Red Gem without using Air Crash by cheating which you can see how to do in the video linked below.

Enter Air Crash and continue until you reach the first Checkpoint, making sure to grab the Aku Aku along the way. It's a good idea to not hit the Checkpoint. Even though it will let you start near the secret exit if you die, you'll also lose the Aku Aku and you'll want him for Snow Go.

After the Checkpoint, instead of jumping on the jet board, hop onto the box to the right of it, then onto the box in front of that one, & finally onto the platform. When you land on the platform you'll be warped to the secret warp room.

Enter Snow Go from the secret warp room and you'll start at Snow Go's secret entrance. There are 3 more Aku Aku masks in this part of Snow Go and you'll want to grab them to help you get passed the many Nitro crates further in the level.

At the end of the secret entrance area you'll fall down a pit that leads to the Red Gem. All that's left is to finish Snow Go as normal.
