How to Install & Update System Software on PS4 Console (Fresh Copy)
Connect to the Internet: Make sure your PS4 is connected to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable.
Power On Your PS4: Turn on your PS4 and wait for it to fully boot up.
Navigate to Settings: Use your controller to navigate to the main menu, then scroll up to the "Settings" icon (it looks like a toolbox) and press the "X" button to select it.
Access System Software Update: In the Settings menu, scroll down to the "System Software Update" option and press the "X" button.
Start System Software Update: Your PS4 will check for available updates. If a new update is available, you will see a message indicating that an update is ready to be installed. Select the "Update Now" option and follow the on-screen instructions to start the update process.
Agree to Terms and Conditions: You may be prompted to agree to the terms and conditions of the update. Read through them and select "Accept" or "Agree."
Wait for Update to Download and Install: The PS4 will begin downloading the update. The download progress will be displayed on the screen. Once the download is complete, the system software will be installed automatically.
Restart PS4: After the update is installed, your PS4 will restart.
Verify Update: To ensure that the update was successful, you can go back to the "System Software Update" menu in Settings. It should indicate that your system software is up to date.
