The most current version of Ubuntu, codenamed Kinetic Kudu, remains the number one desktop Linux distribution. This new version of Ubuntu will be supported until the end of its five years of support, that is, until 2027.
In the 22.10 version of #Ubuntu, there is the Linux 5.19 kernel, which is among the basic components of the system.
If you are tired of using Microsoft's Windows operating system on your physical computer and do not want to pay any money for paid software, you can choose and install the Ubuntu operating system, one of the great Linux distributions.
You can follow this video tutorial or the below steps to install the Ubuntu distribution on your PC with a bootable #USB stick.
Step 1: First, download the ISO image file of Ubuntu to your computer by visiting https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop.
Step 2: You need to burn the Ubuntu ISO media to a USB flash drive and start the installation via your PC's USB port. Therefore, download the Rufus program from https://rufus.ie/, which makes it easy for you to prepare a bootable installation media.
Step 3: Install the Rufus program on your system or run the portable version and then insert your USB memory into your PC.
Step 4: Click the SELECT button and select the Ubuntu image file you downloaded.
Step 5: If you have an up-to-date PC, that is, to install UEFI, select GPT from the Partition Scheme. If you want to install it on an old computer, select MBR and then click START.
Step 6: If you are going to install it on your current PC after preparing the Ubuntu USB installation media, restart your system or plug it into another PC.
Step 7: Press and open the F8, F10, F11, or ESC keys to access the Boot menu of your computer. Select the USB installation media you prepared in the boot menu and press Enter.
Step 8: When the Welcome screen opens, select your system language and click the Install Ubuntu button.
Step 9: Configure your keyboard layout and choose the normal installation type in the next step. Also, when installing Linux, tick the relevant options to install important updates and install 3rd party applications.
Step 10: Since you will install a clean system from the beginning on the Installation Type screen, tick the Erase Disk option and click Install Now.
Step 11: Confirm the writing of the changes to the disk and then select the location where you live from the map.
Step 12: Type your real name, #computer name, and user account name, and create a password to log in to the system.
Step 13: After the system files of Ubuntu are copied, remove your USB from your PC and press Enter to restart your system.
Step 14: After the Ubuntu desktop is opened, after logging in to your online accounts and configuring the privacy/data sending settings, you can start using the Linux distribution.
