Other information:
I recommend one of the Betacraft launchers, V2 should be pretty usable right now and works best for people on modern apple computers. V1 is more complete but won't be getting future updates so if you're watching this like 6 months from now, V2 may be better. I'd only use the official mc launcher if I really didn't trust any others, but all launchers here are confirmed safe and are also open source. MultiMC (or a fork like prismlauncher) is good for all MC versions and it's pretty easy to install mods in it.
Also, I don't condone piracy. These launchers do not let you download anything illegally. You can obtain the full version of Minecraft Beta 1.1_02 from Mojang without owning the game. Just open the official launcher, login to an xbox account and you should be able to download the jar for free.
