The difficult Shockhopper Mk I penguin mech is found in the fourth mission in Starbound beta's Upbeat Giraffe update. This guide shows you how to beat the boss when you have chosen to focus on ranged combat and are wearing (green) Aegisalt armour crafted at the Accelerator's Table.
To access the Weapon Testing Site mission you need to have progressed through the preceding missions and outpost quests, and have picked up this mission as a quest once you are equipped with a full set of suitable armour.
For a ranged combat character, you'll have mined the abundant green Aegisalt ore from a frozen planet and built the Accelerator's Table, which allows you to craft advanced weapons and armour geared towards ranged combat based gear, balanced for defence and energy generation.
The equipment used in this video to beat the boss: a two-handed sword, an Aegisalt Rifle, a shield and nanowrap bandages. Tech equipped includes the pulse jump and dash.
