Linking your Nintendo Account to your Nintendo Switch is essential if you want to unlock the full potential of your gaming console. By doing this, you can access online features like the eShop, save your game progress to the cloud, and participate in multiplayer games with friends. It also allows you to sync your purchases and download games directly to your console.
So, if you’re ready to start enjoying all the online features and benefits that come with a linked Nintendo Account on your Nintendo Switch, let’s dive right into it.
Step 1. Navigate to your Nintendo Switch home screen, and then click "System Settings" in the menu. System settings options for your Switch are shown.
Step 2. Scroll down the menu on the left side of the screen, and then click "Users." Associated options are shown on the right side of the screen. Click the image associated with your profile on this Nintendo Switch.
Step 3. Click "Link Nintendo Account" in this menu. A Linking Nintendo Account screen opens, where you'll be given the option to sign in using either an email address or sign-in ID, or to sign in with a smart device. Or, you can create a new account.
Step 4. In this example, I created a Nintendo account separately, so I'll choose to sign in using an email address or sign-in ID.
Step 5. Enter your email address or sign-in ID, enter the password associated with your Nintendo account, and then click "Sign In." You'll see a screen letting you know that this Nintendo account will be linked to a Nintendo Switch account, and that once this is done you won't be able to change your linked account. Click "Link." A window pops up letting you know that your Nintendo account has successfully been linked to this Nintendo Switch.
