Easy to follow tutorial on locking and pinning apps to your screen on Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets. Doing this will mean that without having your password or fingerprint the app that is on the screen will be the only usable app until you unpin it.

This is a great feature to use when you are giving your phone to someone to look at something but you don’t want them to look at anything other than what you are showing them, or when you are letting a child use your phone and you only want them to have access to a specific app.

Steps:

Before we can pin an app we will need to enable the pinning option in settings, so open up the settings app.

In settings scroll down and tap on ‘biometrics and security’.

Scroll to the bottom of biometrics and security and tap on ‘other security settings’.

Scroll down and switch the toggle on to the right of ‘pin windows’ and then tap on the left side of the ‘pin windows’ panel.

Now switch the toggle on the right of ‘ask for pin before unpinning’ that part is important so make sure the toggle is blue and in the on position.

Go back to your home screen and open the app that you would like to pin to your screen.

Then tap on the recent apps button in the bottom left.

At the top of the app that you would like to pin, tap on the app’s icon and then tap ‘pin this app’ from the menu that appears.

Tap ‘okay’ on the popup.

That app will now be pinned to your screen, there is no way of doing anything else on your phone other than using that app until you put in your password or scan your fingerprint.

To unpin an app you need to hold down on the recent apps and back buttons at the same time, the app will be unpinned and go to your lock screen.

You will then have to use your password or fingerprint to unlock your phone.

The next time you want to pin an app you won’t have to turn the option on in the settings, you can just tap on the ‘recent apps button’ and follow the steps from there.
