About this video: This video is a complete guide on how to make a DawnCraft server. This will allow you to play DawnCraft with your friends. We go over two methods in this video - the easy method and the hard method.
First off, let’s take a look at the easy method. This has you making a DawnCraft server through a third-party host. There are tons of Minecraft hosting companies out there, but for this video, we are going to be using SimpleGameHosting.
You can find a link in the description that will take you to SimpleGameHosting. Once you are there you can purchase a server. We recommend 8GB for the DawnCraft modpack as it is a very resource-intensive modpack. You can select DawnCraft in checkout or install it later in the SimpleGameHosting control panel.
After that, just download and install the DawnCraft modpack via CurseForge and join your server just like any other server.
What about the hard way of starting a DawnCraft server and playing DawnCraft with your friends? Well, this involves making a Minecraft server with DawnCraft on your computer.
To get started, you will need to download the DawnCraft server files. You can find a link to the DawnCraft download page in the description above. Once you are there, click on the “Files” button. Then, click the the most recent version of DawnCraft. Scroll down and you will see the DawnCraft server pack. Click the three dots next to this and click download file. This will download the serve files.
You also need to download the 1.18.2 version of Forge. You can find a link to this in the description above. Once you are there, click the download button. On Forge’s website, select 1.18.2 on the left-hand side and click “Installer” under the Latest section.
Next, create a new folder on your desktop called “DawnCraft Server”.
Then, open up the Forge file you downloaded using Java. Click on “Installer Server” and click the three dots in the red box that appears. Navigate to and select the DawnCraft server folder you created on your desktop and click “Okay”. The Forge server files will now download.
From there, locate the DawnCraft server files you downloaded and extract them. Open the new folder that appears. Move all of these files into the “DawnCraft Server” folder on your desktop ensuring to overwrite any files if need.
Now, open the DawnCraft server folder and double-click the run.bat file. This will start your DawnCraft server. It will fail the first time though but a eula.txt file will generate. Open this and change “eula=false” to “eula=true”. Save the file and double-click the run.bat file again. Your DawnCraft server will start.
You can join this server with the IP “localhost”. Just make sure you are playing DawnCraft through CurseForge when you attempt to join.
What if you want to learn how to play DawnCraft with your friends though? Well, that’s where port forwarding comes in. We go over port forwarding in-depth in the video.
The quick version of port forwarding for a DawnCraft server though is that you need to forward port 25565 on the TCP and UDP protocol. Once you do this, your friends can join your DawnCraft server using your public IP.
