About this video: Forge is one of the most popular Minecraft mod loaders, and in this video, we are going to show you exactly how to make a Forge server. This will let you play Forge mods with your friends. Truly everything is covered in regards to how to host a Minecraft Forge server. Why would you want to create a Forge server in Minecraft?
Well, Forge mods are some the best and most unique mods that you can play in Minecraft, and by getting them with Forge, you will be able to play Minecraft Forge mods with your friends allowing you to experience all of the benefits that Forge mods have to offer together.
First things first, we will need to download the Forge server files. You can find a link in the description above to download Forge. This will take you to our website. Here, click the “Download Forge” button. That will take you to Forge’s official website.
On the Forge download page, click the version of Minecraft you want Forge for on the right-hand side. Then, go under “Downloaded Recommended” and click “Installer”. After that, the Forge installer will start downloading.
Next, make a new folder on your desktop called “Forge Server”. Then, open up the Forge installer file you downloaded with Java and select “Install Server”. A red box will appear. Click the three dots in this box and select the Forge Server folder you made on the desktop. Finally, click “okay”. The Minecraft Forge server files will download and install.
From here, open the Forge Server folder and double click the run.bat file. The Forge Minecraft server will try to start, but it will fail. This is because you need to agree to the EULA. Open the eula.txt file and change “eula=false” to “eula=true”. Save the eula.txt file and double click on the run.bat file again. Your Forge server will start!
Before joining your server, it is worth nothing that anyone who plays on your server will need Forge and any mods you add to the server installed on their local computer in addition to them being on the server. This is a limitation of modded Minecraft, so be sure to play Minecraft with Forge and the mods you have added to server. Otherwise, you can join your Minecraft Forge server.
How do you join your Forge server? Well, you can use “localhost” as your IP. You are the only person who can do this, it is a good way to test that the server is working.
What if you want to play Forge mods with your friends though? Well, in order to let your friends on your Forge Minecraft server, you will need to port forward. Specifically, the port 25565 will need to be forwarded on the TCP and UDP protocol. We cover this in-depth in the video.
From there, your friends will be able to join your Minecraft server using Forge and your public IP address as their server address. You can find your public IP using the link in the description above.
