How to make a VIABLE GREATBOW PVP BUILD! - Dark Souls 3
LET'S MAKE GREAT BOWS GREAT AGAIN! Surprised no one has tried to make an actual non-invasion snipe build. More players are surprised when they take a giant arrow to the head. So how about dem tips?
----BUILD NOTES----
- There is only 2 greatbows in the game, the DRAGONSLAYER GREATBOW and the ONISLAYER GREATBOW!
- The Dragonslayer bow hits harder, but has less range. Suits us since we are fighting point blank.
- The weapon art "Puncturing Arrow" is surpisingly useful! Overall it takes much longer to take the shot. But it has 2 stages. A stance deploy and then the slow fire.
- The deploy part comes out very quick, so you can roll away easy if they approach. If they spook and back away you can now load an arrow! Dem BAITZ.
- Greatbow's do not scale that well, needing only 20STR and DEX with D/C scaling at max rank. Hence why I'm at SL95.
- However being at SL120 we could bring enough stats to bring a Greatshield!
- While not shown (since much of the footage was me just kiting for several mins) I used 3 different medium shields. Each with a very high resist to a different element.
- It's easy enough to swap shields after they buff if you haven't loaded an arrow/ironfleshed up. Bit cheeky that though.
- Iron Flesh works really well here. It means we can land the first shot without fail. Otherwise they can knock you out of your stance!
- The untrue ring isn't here just for the fashion, it covers up the visual effects of buffs! So they don't quite know when Iron Flesh ends. If you move slow or don't move much you can lure them in for some easy shield pushing!
- I didn't use the HAWK RING, since there isn't much distance between us and them.
- If you don't wanna shield push your going to need something else to deter approaches, otherwise they will never give enough space to load an arrow!
So what's my final opinion on this weapon?
I found it surprisingly viable! Fun too. A big weakness I had with shield pushes was players just avoiding/ignoring me. It's pretty hard to push while walking towards players, it works much better being reactive since the block frames last so long and come out so quickly. All I need to fix now is better offhand weapons...
