How to Make Matchmaking PRIVATE so people don't join in Helldivers 2 (Settings Tutorial)
14To ensure a more private gaming experience in Helldivers 2, follow these steps:
Open the Settings Menu: Once you’re in the game, open up the settings menu.
Navigate to Gameplay Settings: Head to the ‘Gameplay’ tab.
Adjust Matchmaking Privacy: Look for the setting called ‘Matchmaking Privacy’. Change it from ‘Public’ to 'Friends Only’.
By setting it to ‘Friends Only’, only people you’ve added as friends will be able to join your game. Keep in mind that this isn’t a true private lobby, as someone you’ve added can still join in the middle of a mission. However, it significantly reduces the chances of random players joining your games.
Additionally, if you encounter server issues, consider turning off crossplay to limit players to only your platform (PC or PlayStation). Many players have reported improved stability after doing this1.
And when you’re done with your lobby, here’s how to leave the squad and play solo or with another group:
Go to the Back of the Ship: Walk all the way to the back of the ship where the cryo pods are located.
Return to Ship Alone: Approach the entrance to the cryo pods, and you’ll receive a prompt that says ‘Return to ship alone’. Press this to leave your lobby and squad
