This chapter will teach you the very basics of how to create Team Fortress 2 maps. By the end of this chapter, you will know how to create your first room and spawn into it in-game.
In this episode we go over in detail the steps the compiler takes to convert your map from a VMF file to a BSP, covering the VBSP, VVIS, and VRAD processes. We also go over the most common type of error you will encounter, leaks, and how to find and fix a leak in your map. We also go over a useful tool for solving problems with your compile, as well as a resource to sort through things yourself.
In the next chapter we will go over a more intermediate mapping concepts, and teach you all the technical aspects of building your first spawn room.
