SCRIPT:
Jet Set Radio is well known for it's cartoonish artstyle and cel shaded graphics, but did you ever wonder how to make your own characters in this style?

1. Make your character model, not a lot of tips for the mesh other than that the poly count can stick pretty low

2. For the texture I took a look at the original game and kept the detail low with no shading and kept each section compact

3. For the outline, duplicate your mesh, in blender press alt s and slowly scale up, I scaled up to about 0.02 and flip the normals

4. In blender use this material for the main mesh to give a cel shaded look, using the color ramp to define how much to shade and the intensity of the shadows. And for the outline apply shadeless black material with back face culling enabled

5. In unity I made my own simple toon shader with two sliders one determine how much to shade and the other to determine shadow intensity

6. Finally rig up your model and pose it!

And that's all I got leave a like if you learned something, and if you followed this tutorial yourself tag me on twitter or instagram, or post it on my discord!

Shader code for Unity is on github, and model on patreon
