How to master Mick Gordon's DOOM array (and turn it into an instrument)
29Hello everyone! I've thankfully been given opportunity to sit down and actually think about music for once and this important element of Argent Metal sound design came to me. The level of control that Mick Gordon exudes over different elements of sound design is probably more of a secret sauce than his gear and plugins themselves. As a producer, learning the DAW and control mechanisms in it is crucial in gaining a greater understanding.
In this video, I talk about different types of response to a given input signal and how they can be used in the context of the DOOM Array from the GDC talk (or other sound design methods). It is more of a lecture format style of video hence the lack of editing. Nevertheless, there is a live demonstration of how different mechanisms for sidechain will affect the volumes to dynamically alter the mix of something so it is worth a watch even if you are a beginner to music or sound design.
