In today's video we're gonna talk about how to measure Height of a non ambulant DMD or Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy patient. Muscular Dystrophy is a disease that is caused by mutated gene and dystrophin (note: i might improperly explain the cause behind why it happens. it is better to ask neurologists or those who can explain what causes it.) It causes progressive muscle weakness and atrophy (degeneration). There are different types of muscular dystrophies like Becker Muscular Dystrophy (BMD), Congenital Muscular Dystrophy (CMD),Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy (LGMD) and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). There are also more which I'm too lazy to mention. Also there's not any version of muscular dystrophy that is called pericardiatric muscular dystrophy. I was wrong. Treatment of this disease are gene therapies such as golodirsen, exondys and translarna (Sadly no cures available for this disease). Steroids such as corticosteroids. Also physio therapies, breathing exercises etc. Though the treatment like golodirsen and exondys are currently in trial i mean clinical trial. My parents are not getting me treated by those because could be risky plus no info of whether its safe or patients did survive using it and didn't have any dangerous or critical side effects. Its unknown though. Translarna is used for non-sense mutation version of DMD. Idk if my version is non-sense mutation or not. Anyway Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy causes the patient to become non ambulatory after some years of diagnosis. Doesn't directly cause it but slowly progressing. It causes lateral scoliosis (neuromuscular due to DMD) and lumbar lordosis (neuromuscular due to DMD) in non-ambulatory patients that are with this disease DMD. Also causes the patient to no longer be able to straighten legs (dosent cause at the beginning but when becoming non-ambulatory. Respiratory muscle weakness too which may cause suppressed cough reflex. Also at a time the patient becomes unable to rise up his hands like the arms. At the beginning it causes inability to climb up stairs like having a hard time climbing up the stairs, can't stand up on own without touching anything from sitting, toe walking, waddling in ambulatory patients with DMD. Doctors say that it causes delayed speech, learning disabilities, cognitive impairment and mental retardation. Echocardiogram is required for checking heart of a DMD patient occasionally or once a week because according to the doctors it affects cardio muscles (heart muscles) which affects the heart.

Note: I'm not a doctor but saying how to measure the height of a non-ambulatory DMD patients.
