Here's my tutorial for modding Nuclear Throne. I did what I could to cover everything, feel free to skip ahead if you need to. Please note there is a lot covered here but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy! Hope this helps!
Steps:
1. Install the game
2. Download NTT
3. Run NTT-Assemble
Hit 1 to install, then hit 4 for steam
4. Run the game
5. Download Mods
6. Extract zip into mods folder (see 10:30)
7. Create startup.txt
8. Run the Game Again

Launch NTT through steam:
Right click Nuclear Throne - Properties - Launch Options (Bottom)
Paste this: "File Path\NuclearThroneTogether.exe" %command%
Example:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Nuclear Throne\NuclearThroneTogether.exe" %command%
Startup commands (Only keep the commands that you need, delete the rest. See video for more context) :
/gml game_set_size(426,240)
/loadmod [modname (everything before .mod.gml)]
/loadtext [folder name]
