How To: Play (& Kill) Shield Operators - Rainbow 6 Siege Guide
1,061Alright guys, today's Rainbow Six Siege video is all about the shield classes. They are (in no particular order) Montagne, Fuze, Blitz and the very undervalued Recruit.
The point of these attackers are, in general, to lead the charge of your team. You can soak up the shots and defend your allies, as Blitz you can blind enemies and as Fuze you can safely place your charges on the best locations.
It is important to remember, however, that shield ops are NOT immortal. They can be shot in the back, the side, the head, and sometimes even around the shield in arms or legs if you aren't fully covered. They are also extremely vulnerable to explosives - it's very common for a nitro-cell wielding operator to throw his charges at you the moment he/she spots your shield, so make sure to watch out for that.
Tactically speaking, you need to take it slow with your shield. Make sure to sweep the corners properly, checking for enemy presence before continuing, or you'll get shot in the back pretty quickly.
Another cool thing about shields is that they protect you no matter where they are - if you're injured and it's by your side, it will still deflect bullets. If it's on your back while you plant a charge, it will still soak up that damage. Not really something you can control, but useful all the same.
Finally, there's the all important objective. We all know that the enemy team will be located in that area - that's obvious. But what about when you're securing, or planting? Many rounds have gone south because a team wasn't able to defend as they secured the objective. Here, shields can really shine. If you're wielding a shield, be sure to tackle the objective and support your team by being an impenetrable defense.
