How to play Minecraft | 2021 guide for beginners
In this video I'll cover the basics of Minecraft so that you can start exploring and building your own world, without spoiling too many discoveries from you, this is how to play Minecraft survival - guide for beginners!
First thing you want to do: punch trees!
Once you have some wood you'll be able to create a crafting table, which will be indispensable to create 99% of the items of the game, place it to be able to use it. If for any given reason you need to move the crafting table, simply punch it until it can be picked up, and grab it to replace it anywhere you like.
Thanks to the crafting table you will be able to create your first pieces of equipment, which will be the wooden pickaxe and the wooden sword. Having some wood left in your inventory, use the crafting table to create some sticks, and then use the sticks and the wood to craft your tools.
In Minecraft you'll need to eat to always be at full health and have full health regeneration – or to not die in hard difficulty, and you'll need to sleep so that mobs would not spawn. The best way to start feeding yourself in a new Minecraft World is to start growing some wheat, but for now just slay some animals with your new and not so shiny sword to collect some straight up raw meat.
If the sun is still shining up in the sky you may also have some time to find seeds that you'll use for your everyday bread. To collect seeds, simply hit the grass, many times some seeds will spawn.
Now it's most likely that the night is approaching, so, if you were lucky enough to spawn near some sheeps you can kill three of them and grab their wool, with three blocks of wool and three blocks of wood you can craft a bed at the crafting table, but be careful, the wool of the sheeps must be the same color for all three pieces to let you craft a bed. If instead there is no sign of sheeps around you make a hole in a wall of dirt and close yourself in there for the night, be patient and wait for the morning.
Once you survived the first night, you now know how you can survive while you set up your first house. Big warning before we start, even during the day, in dark places where light doesn't arrive, like caverns and houses that are not lit up properly, mobs will spawn, so, be sure to not obstruct the sunlight until you can craft some torches, which we'll talk about later in the video, and be sure to sleep as soon as you can in the evening. Collect some seeds from the grass, once you have the seeds, craft a hoe at a crafting table. The easiest way to start growing wheat is to create your base near the water, so that you don't need a way to transport it to your base. Treat the ground with your hoe, and plant the seeds to grow them. You'll need to wait some days before you can pick up the grown wheat, in the mean time, I'd suggest you to create some protective barrier from the outside world.
The hard way to grow wheat comes into play when your base is far from the water. To grab water you'll need a bucket, and to make a bucket you'll need some iron, which is not easily found outside in the open, but usually in spooky and dangerous caverns.
Upgrade to stone so that you can then pick up the iron you need for your bucket. Find a cavern, or if you want to dig one, do it without digging straight down, because there could be some lava below you. Once you are in a cavern, use your pickaxe to break some stone and collect some cobblestone – return to your base and craft a stone sword and a stone pickaxe at your crafting table. Okay, now you can return to the cavern and search first for some Coal, when you find it you can pick it up by braking it with the stone pickaxe, return to the base to craft some torches. Now, look for some iron ores, once you find them, break them like we did for Coal, and do not use the wooden pickaxe, which would break the block but also destroy the iron. Alongside the iron ores, you need to search and pick up also some coal and more cobblestone.
Return to your base and follow these steps to craft your bucket. Create a furnace at your crafting table with some cobblestone. Place the furnace and put coal inside of it. The furnace can now cook food and minerals, put the iron ores inside of the furnace, once they are all smelted, there will no longer be fire in the furnace, pick up the iron and craft the bucket.
Now you are able to feed, defend yourself, and you've had a taste of Minecraft's caverns and dangers. Keep exploring and experiment with everything you can find, Minecraft survival is played best when it is you to discover it, just know that the road ahead of you is an amazing and dangerous adventure!
