Pokémon should take inspiration from Zelda Breath of The Wild - I predicted Pokémon legends Arceus!
This is how Pokémon should take inspiration from its own anime and Zelda Breath of the Wild, this is Pokémon Alive Wild version.
In Pokémon Alive Wild, you can overcome minor traveling issues without asking help to your Pokémons, that instead will help you to overcome bigger issues!
Here are some examples of improvements to the environmental interactivity
- The trainer can swim for limited distances
- The player can climb like in The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, but this would only work on small hills and small mountain sections
Pokémon Alive Wild would features multiple weathers, which have negative effects on the player
- Is the rain preventing you from climbing? A Pokémon that knows Sunny Day can help you!
- Is it too cold and you are freezing? Travel alongside a fire Pokémon to warm you up
- A sand storm made you lost your way? Ask a flying type Pokémon to mitigate the sand around you
Aside from sprinting, all the actions that require the protagonist to struggle, like climbing or swimming, make use of a non-upgradable stamina bar
Alongside stamina, in the overworld both Pokémons and the trainer have a dedicated Life Points bar that works like this
- Life Points can be lost in many different ways, for example by falling from big heights
- If the player's Life Points get to 0, he or she dies and the game loads the last checkpoint
- If a Pokémon's Life Points bar is not full his stats will decrease by the amount of percentage lost from the Life Points bar
- If a Pokémon's Life Points get to 0 it will have its combat Health Points at 0 too, and will need to stay at the Pokémon Center for a couple of days before being able to travel alongside you again. Once the Pokémon has recovered, the trainer will be able to add it back to the party from any Pokémon Center
Since the first season of the Pokémon Anime, Brock taught us the importance of cooking the right food for our Pokémons, but this feature only had minor appearances in the games. The Pokémon trainer can cook food that improves resistance to heat and cold, food that refills Life Points or Stamina and learn throughout the world new recipes to make food for specific Pokémon types or even single Pokémons!
Pokémons will be well integrated in the overworld. For example, you can try to climb on an Onix, and if you're lucky that it's a Calm Onix, it might just stare at you, but if it's something like an Adamant Onix it will crush you, and in doing so, completely drain your Life Points
Pokémon Alive Wild needs a day and night cycle with a timescale 4 times faster than the real world, in this way, the game can feature some sleep mechanics without being too much tedious about them
On top of the Day and Night cycle, there should be a calendar, with Weeks, Months and Seasons to provide the world with climatic change and many weekly events that the player can take part in, like the bug catching event of Pokémon Gold and Silver
Pokémon should always carry some form of turn based mechanics, but in Pokémon Alive Wild the combat would function as a Turn Based Real Time experience! Turns are swapped between Pokémons in this way
- The fastest Pokémon starts in the attack phase, while the opponent is in the defense phase
- You play as the Pokémon that was sent in, which has 5 moves and up to 2 additional HMs
- Moves would be assigned to buttons instead of being in a menu, and there are two buttons dedicated to jumping and sprinting
- Moves precision is based on distance
- After you try to attack the opponent's Pokémon, the phases swap, and the opponent gets in the attack phase, while you are in defense phase. This would happen seamlessly and very quickly as Pokémons exchange attack by attack! During the defense phase, your Pokémon can dodge by jumping and also parry the opponent's attacks
Since battles would take place in the same exact environment of the overworld, the area would still be affected by Pokémon moves
- Earthquake could make fall trees and move rocks and other items around a quite large area, and any object that hits a Pokémon could reduce its Health Points, or even hit one of the two trainers and drain some of their “Life Points” we discussed before
Pokémon Gyms should introduce unique environmental challenges for the player like in the Anime, and I would really like if each gym leader had 8 different Pokémon teams, to pick the most appropriate one based on which order you choose to challenge them
I would replace the usual Pokémon League with a tournament in the style of Pokemon Emerald's Battle Dome
