Today I want to highlight all Ocarina of Time references from Breath of the Wild’s map (The Legend of Zelda references), let’s go!

Lake Saria – Saria 00:35
Saria was the Hero of Time's childhood best friend and then became the Sage of the Forest.

Mido Swamp – Mido 01:02
Pretty funny that Mido got a swamp instead of a lake like Saria since he was super annoying at the start of Ocarina of Time.

Lost Woods – Lost Woods 01:32
I know the Lost Woods are dramatically different from Ocarina of Time, and that they are probably in many other games of the series, but I think they are super important and to not include them would have been a mistake.

Great Deku Tree - Great Deku Tree 02:03
Okay, I know the timeline is not clear at all in Zelda, but I like to assume that this is the Great Deku Tree Sprout that we saw in Ocarina of Time, besides, there are many fan theories out there if you want to check them out.

Inside the Deku Tree – Great Deku Tree’s Navel 02:30
The Deku Tree’s interiors are very different since one is a massive dungeon and one is a little shop, but since was the Deku Tree to greet me into the series I decided to include this reference.

Hyrule field – Hyrule field 02:51
Hyrule field in Ocarina is literally the main open world area as opposed to this section of Breath of the Wild’s map, but it’s interesting to see what has become of it over the years.

Ranch Ruins – Lon Lon Ranch 03:21
Ranch Ruins is famously known to be a destroyed recreation of Ocarina of Time's Lon Lon Ranch, so, here it is!

Hyrule Castle – Hyrule Castle 03:52
The Hyrule Castle of Breath of the Wild is certainly not the one from Ocarina of Time, since the latter was destroyed by Ganondorf in every single timeline, but still, as it is the castle of Hyrule I could not exclude it.

Temple of Time – Temple of Time 04:20
The Temple of Time is very similar to Ocarina of Time's, at least on its exterior parts, the interior is similar but it lacks the portal to the Sacred Realm and the Master Sword's pedestal, which in Breath of The Wild is in front of the Great Deku Tree.

Lake Hylia – Lake Hylia 04:50
Lake Hylia is also very different from Ocarina of Time's, but since in that game this lake hosted the Water Temple I didn’t feel like excluding it from the list.

Bonooru’s Stand – Bonooru (Scarecrow) 05:12
This is a very interesting reference, Bonooru is the scarecrow that can be found near Lake Hylia in Ocarina of Time. If you play your Ocarina for him, he will remember your song and appear in some pre selected places when you play the song around Hyrule. This is useful to get in some hidden areas with your Grapple Hook, and I’m very happy the character got referenced in Breath of the Wild!

Kakariko village – Kakariko village 05:47
As many references, also Kakariko village is very different from Ocarina of Time’s, I included it for its importance in many occasions through the story of Ocarina of Time.

Goron city – Goron city 06:17
I like to imagine that through the many years of Hyrule's story some catastrophe created by Death mountain caused Goron City to be outside in the open instead of inside a cavern like it was in Ocarina of Time.

Vah Rudania – Darunia 06:47
Almost every Divine Beast references a character of Ocarina of Time, and of course the Goron’s Divine Beast couldn’t have referenced anyone different from Darunia, the Sage of Fire.

Darunia lake – Darunia 07:13
Vah Rudania is not the only reference to Darunia, as there also is a lava lake dedicated to the character.

Death mountain – Death mountain 07:35
Death mountain is Hyrule’s volcano, it houses the Fire Temple in Ocarina of Time and it’s Vah Rudania’s hideout in Breath of the Wild.

Vah Naboris – Nabooru 08:00
Divine Beast Vah Naboris is a reference to Nabooru, the Sage of Spirit from Ocarina of Time.

Mount Nabooru – Nabooru 08:27
as for Darunia, also Nabooru has an additional reference in the form of Mount Nabooru.

Zora River – Zora’s River 08:54
compared to Ocarina of Time’s, Zora River in Breath of the Wild is massive in scale, but the interesting thing is that they both lead to Zora’s Domain, house of the Zoras.

Zora’s Domain – Zora’s Domain 09:24
Zora's domain in Breath of the Wild is nothing like Ocarina of Time's, I decided to include it because of the shared soundtrack and name.

Vah Ruta – Princess Ruto 09:55
Divine Beast Vah Ruta references Princess Ruto, Sage of Water in Ocarina of Time.

Ruto Lake & Ruto Precipice – Princess Ruto 10:22
Princess Ruto has two additional references instead of just one like the other sages.

Great Fairy Fountain – Great Fairy Fountain 10:50
the Great Fairies are always helpful to the current Hero of Hyrule and although they help each hero in a different way it's cool to look at the differences to their fountains over time.

Intro 00:00
Bye bye 11:18
