Setup
Shuffle all the tiles facedown in the middle of the table
And distribute 14 tiles to each player’s rack
Take one tile from the pool, whover has the biggest number starts the game
Play then proceeds clockwise
How to play
The object of the game is to be the first player to get rid of all the tiles in your rack
You get rid of your tiles by placing them on the table in sets.
A set can be a group, consisting of 3 or more tiles of the same number and different color
Or a run, consisting of 3 or more tiles of the same color in numerical order from 1 to 13
To make your initial move, you need to place sets that sums up at least 30 points.
Any set after that can be worth anything.
You can play as many sets as you want in your turn.
Each player has a limit of 1 minute per turn and if you exceed it, you must draw 1 tile from the pool.
If you can’t complete a move within the time limit, return the tiles that were on the table to their previous positions, and draw 3 tiles as a penalty, ending your turn.
If you can’t play or choose not to, draw one tile and end your turn.
After your initial move, you can add tiles from your rack and reshuffle a set to form another set, as long as it is valid.
You can add tiles to extend a set.
You can remove a tile from a set and use to form a new set.
You can split a set into multiple sets and combine them.
Whenever a joker is replaced, it needs to be used in a new set immediately.
The joker is worth the points of the tile it is substituting.
After you clear you rack, call rummikub to end the round.
Scoring
To score, the other players add up the value of the tiles they have on their racks as a negative point and the winner gets a positive score equal to the total of all opponents.
The penalty for having a joker on the rack is -30 points.
There are as many rounds as there are players.
When the last rounds ends, the player that won the most games wins.
In case of a tie, the player with the highest score is the winner!
If ever the pool is depleted before a player calls rummikub and no one else can play any more tiles, the player with the lowest value on the rack wins the round.
In this case, each player totals up the value of their tiles and substracts from the winner’s totals.
They then reduce their scores by this amount. The total of these negative numbers is scored to the winner as a positive number.
