Steps:

- This wont work from the youtube app, so open up youtube in safari or another web browser.

- Tap the AA button at the top left of safari and then tap on ‘request desktop site’. If you’re on chrome you can tap the 3 dots button at the top right and then select ‘desktop site’.

- Now that it’s in desktop mode, simply load the youtube video you want to play.

- Skip the advert if there is one.

- Now simply start playing the video and then press the home button to go back to your iphone dashboard.

- Scroll down from the top of the screen to the notification menu. You should see media controls here for the video we were just playing on youtube. All you have to do is tap the play button and the audio will start playing where you left off.

- Occasionally it doesn't play , if that's the case then simply reload the video and try again and it will work.

- You can now go and do other things on your iPhone while listening to youtube in the background.
