Lag B'Omer is a Jewish holiday that falls on the 33rd day of the counting of the Omer. The word "Lag" means "33" in Hebrew, and "Omer" refers to the counting of the Omer. The holiday is celebrated on the 18th day of the Hebrew month of Iyar.

Lag B'Omer is a day of celebration and thanksgiving for the life of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, a 2nd century sage and mystic who is credited with revealing the Kabbalah, the Jewish mystical tradition. Rabbi Shimon lived in isolation for 12 years, during which time he is said to have written the Zohar, the central text of Kabbalah.

Lag B'Omer is also a day of mourning for the deaths of 24,000 of Rabbi Akiva's students, who died of a plague during the Omer counting.
