Learn how to record timelapse on your DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro. Set up, capture and record smooth, stunning, high-quality timelapses whether you’re filming a sunset, moving clouds, or bustling city life.

Timelapse is a video recording method where photos are taken at set intervals and then stitched into a fast-motion video. It condenses hours or even days into just a few seconds, creating a visually engaging effect.

How To Shoot Timelapse On DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro:

Step 1: Press and hold the power button until the device turns on. Make sure your camera is charged or connected to a power source, especially for long timelapse sessions.

Step 2: From the home screen, swipe left or right until you find the “Timelapse” mode. Tap or leave the option highlighted to enter the Timelapse recording interface.

Step 3: Before hitting record, fine-tune your timelapse based on your needs. Tap on the parameters at the bottom of the screen.

Scene: For Timelapse, it is set to "Custom" by default, where you get to set and use your own parameters. However, you can also choose the preset parameters of Sunset, Clouds or Crowd, depending on what you want.

Hyperlapse: This is set to Auto by default. The OSMO cameras offer the best settings for different scenarios when set to Auto. However, you can also set the x2, x5, x10, x15 or x30.

Resolution: Tap on the resolution option in the top-left corner. Typically, you can shoot timelapse in up to 4K for ultra-sharp visuals. You can shoot 4K, 2.7K &1080p at 30fps or 25fps

Field of View (FOV): Tap on the option in the top-right corner to choose between Wide, Standard, or Narrow based on your scene. Wide is selected by default.

Exposure Settings (optional): You can tap the settings icon in the timelapse viewfinder to lock ISO, shutter speed, or enable manual mode for consistent lighting.

Step 4: Use a tripod or a stable surface to ensure your Osmo Action 5 Pro remains completely still. Frame the subject you want to record—sky, cityscape, crowd, etc.

Step 5: Tap the Record button to begin the timelapse capture. The camera will take images automatically at the interval you set. Leave the camera undisturbed for the duration of the shoot.

Avoid shaking or moving the camera during the process. You can also record timelapse videos in portrait mode.

Step 6: You can stop manually at any time by tapping the stop button. The footage will still be saved based on what’s been captured so far.

Once recording stops, the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro automatically compiles the photos into a timelapse video. You can view it directly on the camera or transfer it to your smartphone via the DJI Mimo app for further editing and sharing.
