How to Remove Background Noise & Echo on Mic using STEAM Settings (Easy Tutorial)
If you’re experiencing background noise and echo on your microphone while using Steam, here are some steps you can take to improve the audio quality:
Check Your Sound Drivers:
Ensure that your sound drivers are up to date. You can look for new updates for your audio drivers to address any compatibility issues.
Adjust Steam Settings:
Open Steam and go to the Settings menu.
Click on Voice in the left sidebar.
Under the Recording section, select your microphone from the dropdown menu.
Make sure the Volume slider is appropriately adjusted.
Test your microphone by speaking into it and checking if the echo persists.
Disable “What U Hear”:
Go to Control Panel - Hardware And Sound - Sound.
Click on Recording at the top of the Sound Panel.
Locate the “What U Hear” option (if present) and right-click on it, then choose Disable.
This step prevents audio from looping back and causing echo issues.
Use VoIP Software for Testing:
Try using another VoIP software (e.g., Discord or Skype) to test your microphone. If the issue persists there as well, it might be related to your hardware or drivers
