How to Turn Off your Controller when Playing STEAM Games on PC (Easy Tutorial)
If you’re experiencing unwanted controller input while playing Steam games on your PC, there are several methods you can try to disable it:
Via Steam Settings:
Open the Steam app.
Navigate to your Steam Settings by clicking on the Steam tab and selecting “Settings.”
In the Settings panel, go to the “Controller” tab (represented by a small controller icon).
Look for the sliders labeled “Enable Steam input for…” corresponding to your controller type (Xbox, PlayStation, Switch Pro, or generic).
Move the relevant slider to the left/off position to disable the controller input. Keep in mind that this may affect your in-game controller functionality, so you’ll need to enable/disable it as needed1.
Using HidHide (GitHub Tool):
Visit this link to download HidHide.
Unplug the USB cable to turn off a wired controller, or hold down its power button (PS4/Xbox/Steam logo) for six seconds to turn off a wireless controller.
Create a Blank Action Set in Steam:
Add a blank action set within your controller’s desktop configuration in Steam.
Switch to that action set when you’re not using the controller for gaming purposes.
Remember that disabling controller input may impact your overall gaming experience, so choose the method that best suits your needs. Happy gaming!
