How to Change your MICROPHONE in STEAM (Fix Not Working)
5To configure and test your microphone in Steam, follow these steps:
Open the Steam Client on your computer.
Click on “Friends” and then select “View Friends List”.
In the Friends List, click on the gear-shaped icon (located at the top-right corner) to open the FRIENDS LIST SETTINGS.
Now, choose the “VOICE” option from the left panel.
Under “VOICE INPUT DEVICE”, you’ll see a dropdown menu with the microphones connected to your computer. Select the microphone you want to use with Steam.
Additionally, you can choose your output device by clicking on the “VOICE OUTPUT DEVICE” dropdown menu.
Adjust the following settings:
Input volume/gain: Modify the input volume of your microphone using the slider.
Output volume/gain: Set the output volume as needed.
If your friends can’t hear your voice, consider adjusting the Input volume/gain or Output volume/gain.
Scroll down to find advanced options like Echo cancellation, Noise cancellation, and Automatic volume/gain control. Enable or disable these features based on your preferences.
Your microphone is now configured for Steam!
To test your microphone in Steam:
Open the FRIENDS LIST SETTINGS again (following the steps above).
Select the “VOICE” category from the left panel.
You’ll see a “START MICROPHONE TEST” button on the right side.
Choose one of the three voice transmission types (you’ll need to assign a hotkey for these options).
Test your microphone using the selected option.
Once tested, close the window and enjoy chatting with your friends on Steam!
