You can use the data validation feature in Google sheets to restrict what data gets entered into a cell, create a drop-down list, avoid duplicates, and much more. However, over time, you may find you no longer need the data validation you set up in your Google Sheet, and managing the spreadsheet would be easier without it. Or, maybe you want to remove some of the existing data validation and set it up again. No matter the reason, Google makes it easy to remove data validation from either a single cell or cell range, or from the entire Google Sheets spreadsheet. In this video I'll show you how to do both.
First let's walk through the steps to remove data validation from a single cell or specific cells in Google Sheets.
Step 1. Open the Google Sheets spreadsheet you want to remove data validation from.
Step 2. Highlight either the cell or group of cells you want to remove any data validation from. In this example I'll choose to remove the data validation from cell A6.
Step 3. Click "Data" in the menu along the top of the screen to open a menu, and then click "Data Validation." The Data Validation window opens.
Step 4. Click "Remove Validation." The window will automatically close, and the data validation will be removed from just that specific cell.
Next let's walk through the steps to remove data validation from your entire spreadsheet in Google Sheets.
Step 1. Open the Google Sheets spreadsheet you want to remove all of the data validation from, and then click the "Select All" box in the top left corner of the spreadsheet to highlight the entire spreadsheet.
Step 2. Click "Data" in the menu along the top of the screen to open a menu, and then click "Data Validation." The Data Validation window opens.
Step 3. Click "Remove Validation." The window will automatically close, and the data validation will be removed from the entire Google Sheets spreadsheet.
