In this video, I’ll show you how to remove (delete) your username in Telegram. If you no longer want a public username and prefer to keep your profile private, follow these simple steps to remove it.

Note: Removing your username means others can’t find you by it, but they can still message you using your phone number (if privacy settings allow).

Remove Your Username in Telegram (Mobile)

For Android & iOS:

Step 1: Launch the Telegram app on your phone. Tap on the three-line menu (☰) in the top-left corner (Android) and then select "Settings" or tap on "Settings" at the bottom-right (iOS).

Step 2: Under your profile information, you will see the 'Username' field. Tap on your username.

Step 3: Use the keyboard backspace to delete the text, and leave the field blank. Tap on the check mark in the top-right corner to save the changes.

After doing this, your Telegram account will no longer have a username, and people won’t be able to find you via the username search. However, they can still contact you through your phone number if your privacy settings allow it.

Remove Your Username in Telegram (Desktop)

Step 1: Launch Telegram Desktop or Web and log in to your Telegram account. Click on your profile picture in the top-left corner to access settings.

Step 2: Select the username field under your profile information. Remove the text by deleting and leave the field empty.

Step 3: Tap on "Save" to save the changes.
