How to Remove Google Account From Android Phone
Removing a Google account from your Android phone is a quick process, and it's useful when switching accounts, troubleshooting sync issues, or preparing a device for sale or transfer. Since a Google account is deeply integrated with Android features like Gmail, the Play Store, Chrome, Calendar, and Google Drive, removing it will also disconnect these services from your device. Keep in mind that removing the primary Google account may require you to factory reset the phone, depending on your device model and Android version.
To begin, open any Google app such as Gmail, Google Chrome, or the Play Store. In the top right corner of the screen, tap your profile picture. This will bring up a list of all Google accounts currently signed into the device. Tap the small dropdown icon next to your email address, then select the option labeled "Manage accounts on this device." Be careful not to tap "Manage your Google Account" as that will redirect you to settings for the account itself, not device-level controls.
Once you're in the account management screen, you’ll see a list of all Google accounts linked to your Android phone. Select the account you want to remove. After tapping it, you’ll be taken to a page with account details. From here, tap on the "Remove account" button. Confirm your decision when prompted, and the selected Google account will be disconnected from your Android phone.
If you're removing a work or school account, some devices may ask for device administrator approval or password confirmation. Also, if the account you’re removing is the only one on the device, certain apps and services may stop functioning until a new Google account is added.
