How To Replace The Fuse In A Panasonic The Genius Microwave Oven Security Screws - Episode 2104
I was in the midst of cooking and the microwave died...I figured it was the fuse...but then could not find the replacements that I got the last time...I was sure I had put them in a drawer close at hand, but indeed, that was not the case...thankfully, before I ripped the kitchen apart...I found what I needed and set about replacing the blown fuse...I have never had such a device blow fuses...and there are many who would put it to the curb and replace it...and you do need special bits to take out the special screws...but it can be done...and you can cook again!
From the last time I fixed this microwave...this text maybe helpful...and it might be good to refer to the other videos on this subject that I did some months ago!
My microwave turned up dead...very strange...very strange indeed...but there is power to the outlet and it was working just fine earlier in the day...and I was and am baffled...I went online to seek wisdom and found that the fuse is a very simple thing, with the same sorts of holders as the Commodore 64 and the Vic-20, and so, even though I know it can be dangerous, I decided to give it a go and open it up...but then I discovered I needed TORX Security bits...sigh...I got them...and it is funny, the video I watched about this fix spent more time talking about the specialized bits than most anything else...it is just a screwdriver bit, just some different...and you likely have to order it online, or go to an automotive or other store...I looked online and found that they were available at Princess Auto, sadly, not the one that was close to me, but still, within a reasonable driving distance and so I got them...and I fretted for about a day and then opened it up...and indeed, the fuse looks doable...I am going to an electronics parts place today...to get solder, not for this project, but I figure they are the most likely to have the correct fuse for the microwave...no point in driving there twice! I would not suggest you do this by the way, there are high voltages in there...but when it was a very simple looking fuse and nothing that would require much other disassembly, I decided to go for it...and now I am off to the store to seek the solder and the replacement fuse...if the new fuse blows right away, the this unit will go to the curb...if it comes back to life, it will go back to the kitchen counter...the jury is out, we shall see later today!
