It's time to delve into the K. J. Parker's Siege Trilogy once more and explore the middle book, How to Rule an Empire and Get Away With It. This novel follows the story of Notker, an actor who is forced to take on the role of a deceased champion in a fantasy analogue to Constantinople that has been under siege for nine years.

As Notker navigates the complex political landscape of the city and the impending threat of the enemy, he draws from his experiences in the theatre to solve problems and entertain along the way. In this video, I discuss Parker's signature voice, the intricacies of the plot, and the lessons the book imparts. It's brilliant fun!
