How to Send a Friend Request on Facebook
Sending a friend request on Facebook is a quick and simple way to connect with someone you know or want to follow. Whether you're using the mobile app or Facebook’s website, the steps are nearly identical and take just a few seconds.
Start by launching the Facebook app on your device. Make sure you're logged into your account. Once on the home screen, tap the search bar at the top of the page. Enter the name of the person you want to send a friend request to, and Facebook will display a list of matching profiles.
Scroll through the search results to find the correct person. When you find their profile, tap on it to open their page. On their profile, you’ll see an “Add Friend” button near their name or under their profile picture. Tap this button to send a friend request.
The button will change to “Friend Request Sent,” indicating that the request is pending. The person will need to accept your request before you're officially connected. If you change your mind, you can tap the same button again, which now shows “Cancel Request,” and then confirm to undo the action.
You can also search for and send requests to multiple people by repeating this process for each profile. Keep in mind that Facebook may limit the number of friend requests you send in a short time if it detects suspicious activity, and some users may have privacy settings that restrict who can send them requests.
