How to Transfer Borderlands 3 Save Data from Epic Games to Steam
425Borderlands 3 is available on Epic Games and Steam. If you bought it on Epic for access 6 months ago, before getting the steam version now too, then you'll no doubt have experienced the save files being platform-bound.
at first this can seem like a disaster! "HAVE I LOST ALL MY SAVES???"
Well, good news, NO!
[-- How it works --]
Epic Games and Steam both use the 'My Games' folder found in your 'Documents' folder to save your character files. However, each platform uses a separate folder to save your characters.
before you can transfer the saves , make sure you launch both the Epic Games version and the Steam version of borderlands (you can close them as soon as you reach the main menu)
this ensures the required folder has been created in your documents.

Open 'My Games' then 'Borderlands 3'
Open the 'Saved' folder and STOP
BEFORE GOING BEYOND THIS POINT, COPY THE SAVEGAMES FOLDER AND PASTE IT SOMEWHERE SAFE.
Making a backup is always a good idea when changing game files.

Now go to the original 'SaveGames' folder and open it. you will see two folders inside - one for Epic Games and one for Steam.
However, they will be named a random string of numbers and letters , so you'll need to figure out which is which.
chances are, if you looked for this video, Epic Games is the one fill of save files and Steam only has one file called 'profile'
YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY HAVE MADE A BACKUO AT THIS POINT.
Copy all of the contents of the Epic Games folder (the one with all the saves in it) I to the other folder (the one with only 'profile' in it.

save files are named a number. you can rename the files in the destination folder so they don't get overwritten.

Launch the steam version of borderlands. You should see your characters from Epic Games.

Note : This method works both ways. you can also make a character on Steam and transfer them to Epic Games.
Character are NOT automatically synchronised, so even if you copy the save to Steam, playing on epic won't update the steam file and playing on steam won't update the Epic file.

If something went wrong and you didn't make a backup, don't say I didn't warn you. it shouldn't go wrong, it's quite straight forward, but always make a backup
