You can turn off discord notifications and sound alerts through the user settings. To disable notifications switch to the notification settings in the side panel. At the top you can turn off desktop notifications.

Further down the page you can disable each sound alert manually. This allows you to keep on some sounds alerts so you can be notified when certain actions occur.
