Turning on closed captions on HBO Max is great if you have hearing issues, or if you just want to try and pick up more details about the show you're watching. In this video I'll show you how to turn on closed captions on HBO Max on an iPhone, iPad or Android device, Xbox One, and the HBOMax.com website.

First, let's look at how to turn on HBO Max closed captions in the HBO Max app on your iPhone, iPad or Android device.

Step 1. Access HBO Max on your iPhone, iPad or Android device, and then launch the movie or TV show you want to watch.

Step 2. Tap the screen to bring up the heads up display, and then tap the "CC" icon on the display. The Closed Captions Settings screen is displayed.

Step 3. Tap the toggle associated with Closed Captions to turn it on. From here, you can change the closed caption font, font color, font size, background color and more in this menu. You'll see a preview of any changes you make in the Example Text box. Tap "Save" when you're done. You'll return to your HBO Max video or TV show, where you'll now see your closed captions displayed.

Now let's look at how to enable closed captions in the HBO Max app for Xbox.

Step 1. Access HBO Max on your Xbox, and then launch the movie or TV show you want to watch.
